CEO

Les is responsible for using his extensive knowledge of both the Meed operation and the requirements of its Member Financial Institutions to accelerate the drive towards the target of being live in 30 countries by 2020. Les defines success as making a social impact in the world and joined Meed to do just that, with a commitment to tackling financial exclusion by working with Member Financial Institutions to create a truly global social banking community.

Les founded Bank Solutions Group and served as the firm’s senior managing partner, helping mid-sized banks and credit unions thrive in a difficult environment. Driving value to financial institutions and helping to shape the future of financial services has been one of his central interests for almost four decades and he brings extensive experience advising financial institutions around the world to improve all aspects of the banking business. Previously he was CEO of Speer and Associates.

Les holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Cleveland State University. A global traveler, when at home he values quality time with his wife, family and dog. The freedom of the road appeals, and he enjoys exploring long and winding roads on his motorcycles. He has served on multiple industry councils and has been an advisor to several bank boards.

Nathan Cho

Chief Risk & Compliance Officer

Nathan Cho is the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer at Meed. He is responsible for managing the company’s compliance, risk and legal aspects, and ensuring regulatory and business compliance across the Meed Network and financial community. Nathan joined the company to be part of the team working to transform the global financial ecosystem and improve the lives of the disadvantaged around the world.

Nathan has a broad range of financial services legal and regulatory compliance experience from within law firm, consulting, and in-house settings. Prior to joining Meed, he served as Vice President & Corporate Counsel for U.S. Bank, where he led the legal and regulatory change management processes for the mortgage servicing and default management departments.

Nathan earned his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from UCLA and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. He is also a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS). Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, playing basketball, and rooting for UCLA.

Stephen Landry

Chief Operating & Technology Officer

Stephen Landry is the Chief Operating and Technology Officer at Meed. He is responsible for platform development and strategy, operations and enhancing the company’s existing Innovative SocialBoost™ technology. Steve joined Meed to provide holistic FinTech solutions to the globally underserved and economically conscious millennials and in doing so be true to his belief to “be the change you wish to see in the world”.

Steve has over three decades of financial services experience, focused on business strategy, technology and consolidation efforts across the consumer payments value chain. Previously he served as a partner with the Atlanta based consulting firm Bank Solutions Group. Steve’s industry experience includes roles as Executive Vice President with Providian Financial and as Senior Vice President with Fleet /Boston and Wells Fargo Bank.

Outside of the office, he can be found spending time on the beach in Santa Monica or leading an active life of running, swimming, paddle boarding and playing volleyball.

Julian Sandy

Chief Marketing Officer

Julian is the Chief Marketing Officer for Meed, responsible for the company’s marketing strategy and consumer engagement across its global community. He was driven to join Meed by the notion of marketing something fundamentally good, constructive and necessary – often somewhat opposite to the tasks his previous career entailed.

That previous career was in advertising. Julian started his career in the London advertising world, and at some of the highest profile UK agencies worked at national and international levels with brands such as Duracell, Castrol, Energizer, Pedigree Petfoods and Jaguar. It was with Jaguar that, in 2004, he piloted a job exchange program within his then-agency Y&R, moving to Southern California for 2 months to run the US Jaguar business. The experience was life-changing, as it opened the door to a permanent return in 2005 to run the worldwide Hilton Hotels business, and he and his family have made Southern California home.

Julian attended the University of Oxford in the U.K., where he studied Modern Languages. In his spare time he builds furniture, repairs whatever his two kids have broken that week and helps out coaching lacrosse, having played in the World Championships when he was much, much younger.

Phil Valvardi

Chief Financial Officer and Head of Client Relations

Phil Valvardi is Chief Financial Officer and Head of Client Relations for Meed. In this dual role, he is responsible for financial operations and strategy and account management across the company’s network of Member Financial Institutions and Corporate Members. Recognizing shared values and purpose with the Meed mission and team, Phil joined the company to help create a pathway to financial mobility for the globally underserved through building relationships with Member Financial Institutions.

Phil has over twenty years of experience in the payments and financial services sector. Previously he served as the General Manager of the Prepaid Solutions business at Fiserv, as CEO of Maverick Network Solutions and as President of the MAC Network. Phil has also held executive positions at CoreStates Financial Corp, now part of Wells Fargo Bank.

Phil sits on the Board of Visitors for the Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph’s University and the Advisory Board of Saint Malachy’s School, North Philadelphia. His academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in Marketing Management from Saint Joseph’s University and an MBA from Drexel University. Outside the office, you can find him exercising and spending time with family and friends. Phil values integrity above all, and treating all people with dignity and respect.

Michael Wolper

Chief Creative Officer

Michael Wolper is the Chief Creative Officer for Meed. He is responsible for the company’s creative and user experience strategy. Michael joined Meed to work with fellow innovators and entrepreneurs to redefine the future of financial services and in doing so, empower those underserved by traditional financial institutions.

Michael is a strategic and highly intuitive marketer, bringing experience both of managing the marketing divisions of multinational, multi-unit organizations and of taking organizations from start-up to scale globally. An entrepreneur, previously he led marketing strategies for Walmart, Warner Bros. Records and the Hard Rock Cafe, as well as international start-ups like Go Travel and Medair Management.

Michael attended Pomona College, USC film School and UCLA’s Anderson School of Business. Outside the office, you can find him leading The Center for Mindful Education, a non-profit that conducts research and develops mindfulness-based programs in partnership with UCLA’s Mindful Awareness Research Center. The organization also helps to bring mindfulness practices to veterans struggling with PTSD, homelessness and depression, as well as working with autistic teens. Michael is also passionate about supporting the non-profit organizations Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services, P.A.T.H (People Assisting the Homeless) and Veritas. He is the very proud father of four teenagers, all currently in university across the U.S.
